The Heartbreak Fairy Guided Visualization

Back in 2019, as a way to help heal my depression, I came up with a guided visualization for myself.

At the time, I had been struggling with depression for years. And for me, this depression felt like a black hole of sadness and physical pain in my chest. So over a period of a weeks, just as I was waiting to fall asleep, I would visualize a little fairy flying into my chest ( heart chakra, soul, etc.) and doing some demonstration, home improvements and redecorating in that space.

It sounds silly -- I know, but it worked. The pain went away. And if the pain ever came back, I would just do it again until... well... until the renos stuck.

I hope to create a meditation with this at some point, but for now, here are the basics of what I did.

Visualization Summary

1) Imagine a small fairy flying around you. As she gets closer, you notice she is wearing safety goggles and a yellow safety hat. Next thing you know, she flies right into the centre of your chest.

2) Imagine her demolition the space-- Tinkerbell with a jackhammer or sledgehammer destroying a room, building, etc. You could even imagine her throwing and cleaning a hoarder house if you struggle with letting go

3) Imagine her rebuilding and redecorating-- rebuilding the walls or your heart, painting them, putting up wallpaper, bringing in a comfy couch, etc.

4) Imagine the space complete with the fairy looking proud of her work.

5) Imagine her flying away

Play around with your version of this visualization if you are struggling right now. Spend as much time on each step as you need. And if you fall asleep or get distracted, no problem. She'll be there when you need her.

Much Love <3
