Re-Centing Your Energy

How Do You Like to Clear Your Mind & Re- Centre Your Energy?

Do you go on walks? Have a bath? Meditate? Knit? Paint? Run?

There are many ways to clear away the clutter, both in the mind and from the Soul. The key is finding the ones that work best for you.

How do you do that?—Self-Knowledge and Experimentation.

  • Are there any activities from your past (even childhood) that brought you joy, put you in a flow state, or made you feel calm and at peace?

  • Has someone in your life recommended an activity to you that you would be up for trying?

  • What activities do you do now that bring you peace— even for just a few seconds, and can you leverage them?

  • What do the experts say?— Here are a few

  1. Go outside. walking, exercising, grounding (standing on the grass in bare feet), meditating, hanging out, reading, etc. This is because our brains are wired for the outdoors. The smells, the sounds, the colours, the fresh air, and wildlife can all help you re-centre.

  2. Get a hobby. When you combine a physical activity with the act of learning and a challenge, you get what is known as the flow state. This state is great for re-centring your energy because it gets you out of your head and into your body.

  3. Get creative. Creativity can take many forms. Arts, crafts, and music are definitely an option. I personally love crocheting right now. But model building, cooking, and woodworking are also great options. Getting creative is good because it combines the flow state with the act of creation— a right-brain activity. When you create, it can feel as if you are tapping into your soul. Some even describe it as channeling something supernatural. It is a great feeling and something I recommend to everyone, given the left-brain world we live in.

  4. Spend time with a pet. Pets are great because they can help take us out of our own drama. And, if you have a pet that enjoys cuddles, the act of petting an animal is a great way to calm your nervous system.

  5. Breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, and yoga are also great activities to facilitate inner-peace because they are all activities that involve the act of clearing the mind and connecting to the body, to the present moment, or to a specific word, phrase, or intention.

  6. A good shower, bath, or swim can be a great way to clear your mind and re-centre your energy because of the soothing and dynamic comforts of water on the skin.

  7. Lastly, spiritual practice and ritual are fantastic ways to let go of the daily hassles of life because it creates a deep sense of meaning and connection. Let God hold onto your problems for you for a bit. Let the act of prayer, ritualistic gratitude, or affirmations remind you are part of something bigger, that you are supported and seen, and that you are not alone in your troubles.
